SESSION 3: Coping Skills for High Risk situations


To evaluate situations in which participants find it difficult not to smoke;

To discuss and practice coping techniques for these high- risk situations;

To review progress and set new goals, and

To challenge thinking and other barriers to success.


You will come to a deeper understanding of your particular smoking habit.

Then we will begin to look at substitute behaviors to smoking.

You will make specific plans to cope with you trigger situations. This will help you avoid relapse.

We will give you some information on nicotine reduction therapy, and you will make general preparations for quitting.

On your chosen Quit Day you will make a firm decision to go smoke free. There will be a special way to say good-bye to your cigarettes on the message boards.
